Update on Celiac Disease
This presentation will discuss diagnostic challenges in Celiac disease, management of gluten-free diets, non-responsive Celiac disease, and new therapies.
Richa Chibbar was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where she obtained her MD degree from the University of Saskatchewan. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Alberta. She then further in Inflammatory Bowel disease and also conducted research in the area of nutrition and the gut microbiome at the University of Alberta. She was awarded a fellowship by the Virginia Commonwealth University in advanced IBD and Nutrition. She was also awarded a fellowship by the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in IBD and Celiac Disease while completing a Master’s in Public Health and Epidemiology (MPH) from the Harvard TH Chan School in Public Health. Richa has published ten refereed research papers, two book chapters, 12 poster presentations at conferences and several presentations at grand rounds or in other educational settings. Currently she is practicing as Gastroenterologist in the Durham Health Region at Ajax, Ontario.
